Captain George A. Hogg, RN Rtd

Born in 1935, he has strong Cornish roots as his great grandfather was a shipbuilder on the river Fal. He started his naval career as a 16 year old cadet in 1952, qualified as an Engineer Officer, and served in a variety of ships and shore establishments including a tour of duty on exchange with the US Navy in San Diego. His final naval appointment was as the Defence Attache in the British Embassy in Peru. He retired in 1988 and returned to Cornwall where, together with his wife, he built a house near Padstow. 

Deeply involved in local maritime research  he was  the Honorary Curator of the Cornwall Maritime Museum in Falmouth from 1993 to 2002. As a Trustee of the new National Maritime Museum in Cornwall he has been involved in the project from its inception to its opening and is now the Head of the Library in the new museum.
